Explore the collaboration between the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Google Pay, enabling integration of RuPay credit cards with UPI. Follow the step-by-step guide to set up and use your RuPay credit card for UPI payments via Google Pay.
The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has gained immense popularity in India, providing a secure and convenient way to make payments. Google Pay is one of the popular payment gateways that support UPI transactions, allowing users to make payments using their bank accounts, debit cards, and now even select credit cards.
Recently, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) partnered with Google Pay to enable the integration of RuPay credit cards with UPI. This collaboration allows users to make payments using their RuPay credit card by simply scanning the merchant's QR code, eliminating the need to carry the physical card.
RuPay has announced that this feature is now available to all RuPay credit card holders from leading banks such as Axis Bank, Indian Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, Punjab National Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Union Bank of India. Furthermore, RuPay assures customers that more banks will soon join in implementing this initiative.
If you have a RuPay credit card from one of the mentioned banks, you can easily link it to Google Pay and make UPI payments. Follow these steps to set up your RuPay credit card on Google Pay:
Step 1: Add the RuPay Credit Card to Your Google Pay Account
Open the Google Pay app on your smartphone.
Go to the Settings menu within the app.
Tap on "Setup payment method" and select "Add RuPay credit card."

Step 2: Activate and Use the RuPay Credit Card on UPI
Tap on "RuPay credit card on UPI" in your profile within the Google Pay app to activate the card.
Select the bank that issued your RuPay credit card.
Set a unique UPI PIN for your RuPay credit card.
Your RuPay credit card is now ready for UPI payments.
